Metropolitan cathedral of Christ the King, Liverpool
Principles underlying general planning and structural design of new Roman Catholic Cathedral are explained, and complex constructional procedures are described; cast-in situ concrete, without being expensive, can be first-class in strength and other physical properties and also in finish; it is stated that assessment of cost by cubic content is almost meaningless, except on some mass-produced item, and even then it is useful only with care; details concerning concrete and construction methods; diagrams indicate various stages in erection of main frames and cone roof.
