Preformed elastic expansion joints for skew highway structures
Neoprene seals with honeycomb cross section have proved adaptable to skew joints in bridges; they can provide watertight joint for up to 135 ft of structure when at roadway skew angle up to 60° and 240 ft for roadway skew of up to 20°; angular deflection of neoprene of 10°, as it is compressed, has been used successfully; use and experimentation can be expected to show that this angle can be increased; steel facing angles with retainer bars for seal are recommended.
