Construction of two-track subway beneath Sixth Avenue from approximately Ninth to Nineteenth Streets in Borough of Manhattan, New York City; work was performed in tunnel beneath operating Hudson and Manhattan, and Independent subways; most of tunnel is excavated in rock which is predominantly Manhattan schist; schematic drawings of typical concrete and steel bent construction employed.
