Analysis by computer -- Non-braced multi-storey building frames
Study was conducted to obtain method of elastic analysis of multistory building frames subjected to wind or floor loads suitable for medium size digital computer; because number of unknown displacements is large for building frame of any size, method of structural partitioning was devised to overcome problem of limited machine memory capacity; approximate method of analysis, discovered in preliminary investigation of 7-story frame, allows calculation of bending moments through large size frames; approximate and exact analyses are compared on 7-story frame and then approximate analysis is used for 21-story frame.
