Tunneling -- Snowy mountains scheme in second stage
Project will supply 3,500,000 kw of peak load power and make available by diversion and regulation 2,000,000 acre-ft of water each year for irrigation; consists of two parts -- Snowy-Tumut and Snowy-Murray Development; both originate at schemes main regulating storage, Lake Eucumbene, with active capacity of more than 3 1/2 million acre-ft; Snowy Murray phase includes driving 18.2 mi of mainly unlined, 22 ft horseshoe-shaped tunnel, building 160 ft high concrete gravity dam at Island Bend and other associated works; details on equipment and procedures.
