Replacing east Canyon dam without interrupting operations
Design and construction of higher East Canyon Dam, immediately downstream from existing thin-arch dam, without interrupting storage of water, posed some unusual problems; old concrete dam had been built through part of toe of older rockfill dam, which further complicated situation; solution to these and other unusual problems encountered in design and construction of new, thin double-curvature arch dam are reported; East Canyon Dam is located on East Canyon Creek about 15 mi northeast of Salt Lake City and 37 mi southeast of Ogden, Utah.
