Dunkirk-Valenciennes canal -- Pont-Malin lock
144 m long 12 m wide new lock, capable of simultaneous handling of six barges, can take 3000-ton convoys or 1350-ton powered barges; construction work and electromechanical equipment is described; difficulties encountered, due mainly to presence of 10 m deep peat layers, required additional work on consolidation of canal embankment.
