Virtual mass and damping factor of breakwater during rocking, and modification by their effect of expression of thrusts exerted upon breakwaters by action of breaking waves
Theoretical calculations show that modification to be made by effect of virtual mass is very small; as to damping factor, calculations give rate of damping considerably smaller than values observed in field observation records; main causes of this discrepancy have been examined; formulas have been obtained for practical use.
