Thrusts exerted upon composite-type breakwaters by action of breaking waves
Theoretical calculations were made to obtain time history of shearing force by taking account of slight sway or rocking of wall caused by initial shock of breaking wave; behavior of shearing force depends on two parameters, lambda and tau/T; lambda is ratio characteristic of wall dimensions, T represents period of rocking of wall, and tau represents half of duration of shock pressure; shearing force caused by shock pressure exists even after shock pressure is gone.
