On elastic buckling of box girders
Buckling of box sections is analyzed theoretically; girder is assumed to be composed of three kinds of orthotropic rectangular plates including steel deck plate, two webplates and lower flange plate; by considering pure bending of part of box girder between two diaphragms and by assuming lower flange plate corresponding to tension flange is not buckled, differential equations of buckled webplates and steel deck plate are derived; critical loads are calculated.
