When making studies in connection with reconstruction of three double track steel bridges over Boyer river, engineering officers of Chicago and North Western were faced with problem of devising scheme for erection of new superstructures that would not require falsework bents in river channel; how problem was solved by using scheme in which new spans were supported during erection by system of temporary beams attached to undersides of old spans.
