Concreting deck for Glen Canyon bridge
40 ft wide bridge deck is 1228 ft in length from abutment to abutment; 120 tons of reinforcing steel and 1030 cu yd of concrete were used in building roadway and sidewalks; fully automatic batch plant turned out 100 cu yd of concrete per hr; use of same cableway which was used for erection of bridge structure; leave-in-place steel forms eliminated stripping; slight misalignments eliminated by concrete placing sequence.
