Canon del Pato hydroelectric project at Huallanca on west slope of Andes planned for power capacity of 50,000 kw, later to be increased to 150,000 kw; concrete gravity dam 177 ft high; dam and intake set in right bank are 6 1/2 mi upriver from Huallanca; diverted water must travel through 5 1/2 mi, 18.5 ft diam tunnel driven through granite; six generating units of 25,000 kw each to be installed in powerhouse.
