Considerations on theory of hydraulic hardening; comparison of conceptions of W.Michaelis and of Le Chatelier concerning cause and origin of strength and stability of hardened cement paste with modern conceptions concerning plastics, adhesion systems, pozzolanic properties, colloids and silica gel and also concerning structure of water showed that sticking, hardening and lasting adhesion under atmospheric conditions evidently presuppose transition of pulverulent bonding or adhesive agent to colloidal state of division; in cement silica is bearer of strength and hydraulic stability.
