Building piers for I-5 bridge
Sheet pile and earthfill cofferdams coupled with wellpoint system are needed to keep pier work dry on major American River Bridge, key part of Interstate 5 in Sacramento, Calif; U-shaped dike was dewatered with wellpoint system consisting of five 8-in. pumps and 250 wellpoints connected to 8 in. header; in addition, four 6-in. turbine pumps in well casings were required to dewater site.
