For its new administrative and design center Fried, Krupp Maschinen-und Stahlbau Rheinhausen developed method of extensive prefabrication leading to low overall cost, short total construction time, and ease in subsequent alteration; building measures 64× 48 m and has 6 stories; columns are box sections; butt joints of facade columns were welded for architectural reasons, those of internal columns are bolted; floor beams are fabricated or rolled I-sections.
