A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Giant platform designed for cook inlet
Platform to be built in Alaskan inlet will have 4 heavy-duty legs 14 1/2 ft in diam, in order to withstand 30 ft tides, currents of 6-8 knots, temperatures which drop to 38 F below zero, and severe lateral stresses due to heavy ice buildups; inside each leg will be 16 piles; wells will be drilled through every other pile and alternate piles will be drilled into floor of inlet to anchor platform.
