A method of preparing a metal spigot used to support a glass pool fence panel, the method including the steps of: providing the spigot; applying a first coat to the spigot; heating the spigot using an oven, baking the spigot; removing the spigot from the oven, 5 allowing it to cool to about room temperature; applying a second coat to the spigot; heating the spigot using an oven, baking the spigot; removing the spigot from the oven, allowing it to cool to about room temperature; and confirming thickness of the two coats applied to the spigot is at least 150 microns thick. A spigot prepared in accordance with the method.
