Abstract A water drum system comprising a cover member having first and second tabs extending downwardly from opposed sides such that when the cover member is placed over an upper opening in a water drum, the first and second tabs extend downwardly adjacent a side wall of the drum. A securing rod is receivable through apertures in the first and second tabs and aligned holes in the drum. The securing rod includes a widened portion at a first end and a releasable locking means engageable with a second end such that when the releasable locking means is engaged with the second end, the securing rod may not be removed from the apertures so that the cover member is secured in place across the upper opening of the drum.
