The invention relates to a method for preparing a building material from solid waste, which has the advantages of simple technique and high utilization ratio of solid waste. The building material has the advantages of light weight, favorable strength, favorable durability, lower energy consumption and no environment pollution. The method comprises the following steps: uniformly stirring the cement, waste cullet powder, gypsum and the like as raw materials, carrying out mold forming, carrying out steam curing, and standing outdoors at normal temperature for 10-15 days to obtain the finished product.
