The invention discloses a red sintered shale landscape brick and a production method thereof. The landscape brick comprises the following raw materials by weight percent: 70 to 95 percent of shale and 5 to 15 percent of clay, wherein the sum of the mass percent of all raw materials is not more than 100 percent. The production method comprises the steps of breaking, screening, blank mixing, blank preparation and roasting. According to the landscape brick, the shale and particularly shale-based lean iron ore and shale-based iron ore tailings are used as main components and mixed with an appropriate amount of clay, and after the brick is roasted at an appropriate temperature, the produced landscape brick has the characteristics of red and uniform color, relatively high pressure resistance and bending resistance, small deformation and slight scum of a finished product. By adopting the shale-based lean iron ore and shale-based iron ore tailings, the utilization rate of smelting wastes also can be increased, land resources are saved, and the environmental pollution can be reduced; the production method is simple in process, the production period is short, and the floor occupation area is small.
