The invention relates to a track direction vector gauge metering and detecting device for a track measuring instrument. The track measuring instrument needs to accurately measure the track direction vector gauge of a steel rail in a walking process in order to realize comprehensive detection of the rail smoothness. The track direction vector gauge metering and detecting device comprises a measuring wheel axle and a measuring wheel arranged on the measuring wheel axle, wherein a fixing rod is arranged at the top end of the measuring wheel axle; a vector gauge measuring main scale which is vertical to the fixing rod is fixed on one side of a walking wheel of the fixing rod; a walking wheel protection cover is arranged above the walking wheel; an open groove is formed in the top of the walking wheel protection cover; the vector gauge measuring main scale is positioned in the open groove in the top of the walking wheel protection cover; a vector gauge measuring auxiliary scale is arranged on the groove edge of the vector gauge measuring main scale corresponding to one side of the open groove in the top of the walking wheel protection cover. A relevant measuring device is arranged at the measuring wheel of the track measuring instrument, so that accurate measurement of the track direction vector gauge through the measuring wheel is realized, and spatial conflict with a walking wheel structure in a limited space is avoided. The track direction vector gauge metering and detecting device is compact and reasonable in structure, and is accurate and reliable in measurement.
