The invention discloses a tripod turnstile and a passing control method thereof. The tripod turnstile comprises a gate roller assembly, a motor for driving the gate roller assembly, and a control system for controlling the motor. The tripod turnstile is composed of the gate roller assembly, the motor and the control system; the control system controls the motor to drive the gate roller assembly to rotate, so that the passing efficiency can be increased; in addition, the tripod turnstile further comprises a camera, a temperature sensor and a display screen; therefore, the tripod turnstile has the image acquiring function, body temperature detecting unit and multimedia display function, and as a result, the safety and applicable scope of the management area of the tripod turnstile can be improved and expanded.
