A traveling mechanism of a single-axle type bridge detection and maintenance vehicle is arranged on the lower portion of a vehicle body. The traveling mechanism comprises a pulling rope (9), a hand-cranking disc (8), a spindle (7), a driving bevel gear (6), a driven bevel gear (5), a driven shaft (3) and the like, wherein the spindle (7) is mounted on the lower portion of the vehicle body (1) in the moving direction of the whole vehicle body (1) through a spindle base (10), the driven shaft (3) is perpendicular to the moving direction of the vehicle body (1) and mounted on the lower portion of the vehicle body (1) through a driven shaft base (4) and a driven shaft base (2), and the pulling rope (9) is arranged between the driven shaft base (4) and the driven shaft base (2) of the driven shaft (3). The traveling mechanism is reasonable in design and simple in structure. The single-axle type bridge detection and maintenance vehicle with the mechanism is convenient and reliable to use, low in cost, and free of electric equipment and power generation equipment.
