The invention relates to a falling preventing device of a lifting type scaffold, and belongs to the technical field of building construction. The falling preventing device of the lifting type scaffold comprises a support base with a vertical positioning side; the support base supports a horizontal fixed shaft of a loop spider gear; a key groove which runs through vertically is formed in the middle part of the fixed shaft; the key groove is provided with a locking key which forms a movable pair together with the key groove; the inner hole of the spider gear is provided with a spaced ratchet recess which is joined through an inner hole arc-shaped section; the ratchet recess is composed of a falling locking end and a curve transition section; a pawl head matching with the locking end of the ratchet recess is arranged on the upper end of the locking key, and a contact head is arranged on the lower end of the locking key; when the pawl head corresponds to the position of the locking end, the contact head corresponds to the position of the transition section; when either the pawl head or the contact head stretches out of the key groove, the other one is shrunk into the key groove. The falling preventing device of the lifting type scaffold plays a locking role by utilizing gravity and weightlessness conversion when the pawl falls rapidly.
