The invention discloses a construction method of an outer wrapped concrete steel pipe composite column. The method comprises following steps of installing steel pipe columns; pouring outer wrapped concrete in the range of every floor by layers outside the steel pipe column and carrying out structural construction of a current floor besides the steel pipe columns when outer wrapped concrete within the range of the current floor is finished pouring till outer wrapped concrete, apart from the steel pipe columns of all floors, is finished pouring; and pouring in-column concrete into the steel pipe columns of all floors. The construction method of the outer wrapped concrete steel pipe composite column has following beneficial effects: due to the fact that outer wrapped concrete of every floor is firstly poured by layers and concrete in the steel pipe columns is not constructed immediately, the problem that concrete laitance in the steel pipe columns is not easily chiseled is solved; then, integral pouring operation is performed to in-column concrete of the steel pipe columns of all floors after outer wrapped concrete of all floors is finished pouring; and by utilizing the feature of hydration heat of previously-poured outer wrapped concrete, a heat preservation effect is provided for subsequently-poured in-column concrete in order to avoid additional heat preservation treatment, shorten construction period and save construction cost.
