The invention discloses a thermal-insulation material for exterior walls of buildings. The thermal-insulation material comprises substances in parts by mass as follows: 10-25 parts of slag, 45-65 parts of Portland cement, 15-25 parts of fly ash, 10-15 parts of a foaming agent, 5-8 parts of aggregate, 3-5 parts of polystyrene particles, 3-8 parts of perlite, 7-8 parts of water glass, 10-15 parts of bentonite, 25-28 parts of kaolin, 7-10 parts of a flame retardant, 10-15 parts of sand and 30-50 parts of water. The material has better thermal insulation performance, can guarantee the indoor temperature, stop indoor heat from emitting and increase the indoor temperature in winter and can better resist ultraviolet rays and avoid rise of the indoor temperature in summer, and meanwhile, the material is lighter and more convenient to obtain.
