The similar material is prepared from the following raw material components: iron powder, barite powder, quartz sand, special cement and a cement sealing waterproof agent, wherein the iron powder, the barite powder and the quartz sand jointly form aggregate, and the iron powder, the barite powder andthe quartz sand are compounded according to an equal mass ratio; wherein the mass of the special cement is 2-20% of the mass of the aggregate, and the mass of the cement sealing waterproofing agent is 0-0.5% of the mass of the aggregate. The similar material has the characteristics of high strength, low permeability, stable property and large adjustable range; the material can be used for simulating top and bottom plate similar materials with different strengths and different permeabilities, and provides the good material guarantee for coal and gas outburst test research.
