The slump retaining agent is mainly prepared from 352-364 parts of a polyether macromonomer, 5-8 parts of a benzene ring monomer, 8-12 parts of acrylic acid, 18-28 parts of alkyl acrylate, 0.68-1.12 parts of an initiator a, 1.48-1.82 parts of an initiator b, 1.32-1.63 parts of a chain transfer agent, and the balance of water, the number of total parts by mass of the slump retaining agent is 1000, and the solid content is 40%. The polycarboxylic acid slump retaining agent prepared through the method is good in adsorption and dispersion capacity and good in fluidity retentivity.
