The invention provides a ditch tamping device for highway engineering construction. The device comprises an advancing mechanism body, a swinging direction adjusting arm and a tamping assembly; one endof the swinging direction adjusting arm is hinged to the advancing mechanism body, and the other end of the swinging direction adjusting arm is hinged to the tamping assembly; and the tamping assembly comprises a shell hinged to the swinging direction adjusting arm and a tamping plate located below the shell, and the tamping plate is driven by an impacting device to slide back and forth along thecentral axis of the shell. According to the tamping device, the technical requirement, no matter the advancing requirement or the tamping direction adjusting requirement, of ditch tamping in highwayengineering construction can be completely met, the operation is convenient, and the working efficiency is high.
