The invention discloses an automatic water quantity control device for a water supply pump and a control method thereof. The automatic water quantity control device comprises a water channel, a waterstorage tank, a water delivery tank, a first water quantity control module, a flow velocity control module, a filter screen, a second water quantity control module and a third water quantity control module. The first water quantity control module comprises a first flow baffle plate, a flow dividing plate, first lead screws and a first motor; the flow velocity control module comprises rotating blades and a second motor; the second water quantity control module comprises a second flow baffle plate, second lead screws and a third motor; and the third water quantity control module comprises a second air cylinder, a first blocking door and a second blocking door. According to the automatic water quantity control device, a variety of water quantity control modules are arranged, the water quantity is controlled by weights and gradients, so that the water quantity is controlled more accurately; the water in the water channel can be blocked or circulated, and the flow velocity of the water canbe controlled in the process of pumping water; and the problem that it is difficult for a water supply pump in the prior art to control the water quantity and the flow velocity in the process of conducting water pumping operation on the water channel is solved.
