The door handle assembly (1a; 1b; 1c) comprises: a support element (2) configured to be coupled to the vehicle door (8); a handle element (32) arranged on the support element (2); and a radar apparatus (4) disposed on either the support element (2) or on or in the handle element (32) AND configured to emit radar radiation (S) and receive reflected radar radiation (S).
