The invention relates to the field of buildings, in particular to a building wall face automatic painting robot and a method. The robot includes a walking mechanism, a support board, a rolling brush and a scraping knife. The walking mechanism can walk along a scheduled route; the support board is supported on the walking mechanism movably up and down; the rolling brush is supported on the supportboard along a vertical axial line in a rotating mode, and used to paint the wall face to be painted, and the rolling brush can move to and fro along the painting direction relative to the support board and can move to and fro along the direction close to or far away from the wall face so as to be in contact with the wall face when the rolling brush paints the wall face; and the scraping knife is used to remove protrusions on the wall face to be painted and supported on the support board, and the scraping knife can move to and fro synchronously with the rolling brush along the painting direction relative to the support board and can move to and fro synchronously with the rolling brush along the direction close to or far away from the wall face so as to make a knife edge be in contact with the wall face. The robot can paint the wall face automatically.
