The invention provides an assembly type veneer mounting structure. The structure comprises a plurality of first connecting pieces mounted on a wall surface base layer, wherein the plurality of first connecting pieces are arranged on the wall surface base layer in a matrix manner, each first connecting piece is connected with a corresponding second connecting piece, the other opposite end of each second connecting piece is provided with a corresponding connecting rod, the connecting rods are sleeved with elastic components correspondingly, a veneer is arranged on the connecting rods in a penetrating mode, connecting grooves are formed in the veneer, the elastic components are located in the connecting grooves correspondingly, one ends of the elastic components make contact with the second connecting pieces correspondingly, and the other ends of the elastic components make contact with the tops of the connecting grooves correspondingly. The invention further provides a mounting method ofthe assembly type veneer mounting structure. According to the structure and the method, the problem that a gap of the veneer is enlarged due to expansion and contraction can be effectively solved, sothat a decoration effect can be improved.
