The invention provides a sand-based inorganic water permeable brick and a preparation method thereof. The sand-based inorganic water permeable brick comprises a water permeable surface layer and a water permeable base layer, wherein the water permeable surface layer is adhered to the upper surface of the water permeable base layer; the water permeable surface layer is prepared from the following components in parts by weight: 104.5 to 106.5 parts of white cement, 384 to 386 parts of sand and 5 to 7 parts of attapulgite, and the water-cement ratio of the water permeable surface layer is 0.34 to0.36; the water permeable base layer is prepared from the following components in parts by weight: 549 to 551 parts of ash cement, 124 to 126 parts of tailing sand, 499 to 501 parts of first kind ofstone nitre and 1249 to 1251 parts of second kind of stone nitre, and the water-cement ratio of the water permeable base layer is 0.35 to 0.37. According to the sand-based inorganic water permeable brick, the durability of the water permeable surface layer is effectively improved through the combined design of the white cement and the sand, the fine and smooth feeling of the surface of the water accumulation surface layer is improved through the design of adding the attapulgite and the combined design of the attapulgite, the cement and the sand, the gloss is more obvious, and the water permeability of the sand-based inorganic water permeable brick is improved.
