The invention discloses a tamping device for building. The tamping device comprises a conveying device, a transmission device, a supporting device and a tamping device body which are installed on a rack; a mechanical set in the conveying device operates to convey equipment to a position needing to be constructed; after the equipment is conveyed to a station, a mechanical set in the transmission device operates to drive the tamping device body to rotate and move to conduct station adjustment; after the station is adjusted, a mechanical set in the tamping device body operates to drive a tampinghead to move upwards; after the tamping head moves upwards to a certain degree, an upward-jacking sliding block on the tamping device body makes contact with an upward-jacking sliding rail; the tamping device body slightly moves forwards to release the meshing relation between the tamping device body and gears on the supporting device; and the tamping head conducts strong tamping on the construction position through return of strong springs.
