The invention relates to gypsum mortar and a preparation method thereof. The gypsum mortar is prepared from, by mass, 5-50 parts of anhydrite, 5-30 parts of semi-hydrated gypsum, 3-20 parts of powdered fluororubber and 3-15 parts of modified polyformaldehyde fibers, wherein the modified polyformaldehyde fiber is prepared from polyformaldehyde fiber, nano silicon dioxide, nano titanium dioxide anda silane coupling agent, and the powder fluororubber is prepared from fluororubber, talcum powder and calcium chloride. The gypsum mortar has excellent moisture resistance and relatively high strength.
