The invention discloses a tamping device for road construction, which belongs to the technical field of road construction tamping, and comprises a moving device, a humidifying device, a tamping device, a rotating device and a lifting device, the moving device is horizontally placed on the ground, and the humidifying device is vertically arranged at the top of the moving device; the tamping deviceis vertically arranged at the bottom of the moving device, the rotating device is vertically arranged at the bottom of the moving device, and the lifting device is vertically arranged at the bottom ofthe moving device. According to the tamping device, the ground is humidified and softened through the humidifying device; and after the tamping device tamps the ground in the first step, the rotatingdevice and the lifting device are matched to tamp and smear the ground tamped by the tamping device again.
