The invention relates to a sliding window safety lock based on a ratchet wheel and gear rack structure. The sliding window safety lock mainly aims at upgrading the safety locking function of a slidingwindow and is connected with a sliding groove in the bottom of a window frame into a whole through a lock frame; and racks are arranged at the bottoms of an inner window sash and an outer window sashand are meshed with a gear set on the lock. A ratchet pawl does not influence free opening and closing of a window in a normal state; and when locking is needed, a wedge-shaped sliding block at the bottom of the lock is pushed to jack up a corresponding jacking block, the jacking block overcomes the spring tension of the ratchet pawl, releases the ratchet pawl, clamps a ratchet wheel coaxial withthe corresponding gear and fixes the corresponding gear set, and locking of the window is achieved. The sliding window safety lock has the functions of locking when the sliding window is in an open state and synchronously or asynchronously locking the inner window and the outer window, the triggering mode is simple, the overall structure is compact and reliable, and the user experience is improved.
