The invention discloses a height limiting device for a bridge building. The height limiting device comprises two stand columns and a control device. Each stand column is sequentially provided with an automatic lifting device, a supporting base, a rotating shaft, a connecting sleeve, a motor and a solar panel, a height limiting plate is arranged on one side outside the connecting sleeve, a distance measuring sensor, a camera and an alarm device are arranged at the top end of the height limiting plate, and correlation sensors are arranged at the edges of the left end and the right end of the height limiting plate. The control device comprises a control box, a controller and a storage battery, and the controller is electrically connected with the motor, the distance measuring sensor and the like. Whether a vehicle is over-high or not is detected through the distance measuring sensor, an alarm is given through the alarm device, meanwhile, the height limiting plate is opened, damage to the height limiting device or the vehicle due to the fact that the over-high vehicle collides with the height limiting plate is effectively avoided, personal safety of a driver is guaranteed, and the height limiting plate can be freely opened or closed, the special over-height vehicle can be released, and the whole device works through solar power generation, energy is saved, and the environment is protected.
