TOILET SEAT DEVICE AND EXCREMENT DETECTION DEVICE
A toilet seat device according to one embodiment is mounted on an upper part of a toilet bowl which has a bowl part formed so as to receive excrement, and is provided with: a toilet seat on which a user sits; a light emitting section provided with a light emitting element which emits light; a light receiving section provided with a light receiving element which receives light; and a control section which controls electric current application to the light emitting element and voltage application to the light receiving element. The control section performs light reception control which enables reception of light reflected from solid waste, by sending to the light receiving element a control instruction to open an electric shutter and by applying electric current to the light emitting element. The control section controls a time interval occurring between the start of a light reception control and the start of another light reception control following the light reception control such that the time interval is not less than 0.2 milliseconds.
