The invention discloses a method for mining tailing sand in a mine tailing pond. A pit is dug in the tailing pond where a pump ship or a buoy with a pump can be put down, the tailing sand on the peripheral wall face of the pit is directly scoured by using a water gun, mixed mortar of water and the tailing sand flows into the pit, and the mixed mortar flowing into the pit is directly sucked by using a sand pump. According to the method, the tailing sand in the cemented state is directly scoured by the high-pressure water gun, and the tailing sand, stone powder and slime rapidly dissipate when encountering water and are continuously dissolved into the mixed mortar to flow to the pit bottom and is sucked by the pump; and according to the method, the technical bottleneck that a sand suction pump sucks one hole once in a traditional method is solved, continuous operation is achieved, the labor intensity of operators is greatly relieved, the method is simple and efficient, and remarkable economic benefits are brought to tailing pond mining sand selection enterprises and tailing treatment enterprises.
