The invention relates to the technical field of ceramsite preparation, discloses a method for preparing high-strength ceramsite from oil sludge, and particularly relates to a method for preparing ceramsite by directly utilizing oil sludge without adding other raw material components in a preparation process. The method comprises the specific implementation steps of (1) for the oil sludge with the oil content higher than 15%, recovering crude oil in the oil sludge by adopting a thermochemical washing mode, reducing the oil content to be 5% or less, and then carrying out solid-liquid separation to obtain oil sludge residues; (2) mixing the oil sludge residues with oil sludge with low oil content, adding a high-temperature binder, and controlling the water content to be about 30% to prepare a ceramsite green body; (3) drying the ceramsite green body to reduce the water content to 5% or below; and (4) firing the dried ceramsite green body at 1000-1150 DEG C to obtain the high-strength ceramsite product. The treatment process is simple, the method has good applicability to various oil sludge, other raw material components do not need to be added, and thorough harmless treatment and resource utilization of the oil sludge are achieved.
