The method comprises the steps that after a tail gate opening instruction is received, rainfall information is acquired; if the rainfall information is larger than a rainfall threshold value, the target opening angle of the tail gate is determined, and the target opening angle is smaller than the normal opening angle of the tail gate; and the tail gate is controlled to be opened to the target opening angle. Therefore, a tail gate controller can control the tail gate to be opened at different angles according to the current weather condition, namely, the tail gate controller can control the tail gate to be opened at a small angle in rainy days, and the situation that too much rainwater is sprayed into a trunk due to the fact that the opening angle of the tail gate is too large is prevented; and therefore, the damage to the vehicle interior and the built-in articles of the user caused by the rainwater is effectively reduced.
