The invention relates to a roll shaft type cable saddle with characteristics of a main cable saddle and a splay cable saddle and a using method thereof. The cable saddle comprises a mid-span side half cable saddle and an anchor-span side half cable saddle which are connected with each other, the side walls of saddle grooves of the mid-span side half cable saddle are parallel to each other, and a main cable is supported and steered; the side wall of a saddle groove of the anchor-span side half cable saddle gradually expands outwards in the anchorage direction, is an arc-shaped conical surface structure and supports, steers and diverges the main cable; and the mid-span side half cable saddle and the anchor-span side half cable saddle are arranged on the base, the base is arranged on the upper bearing plate, a rolling friction pair is arranged between the upper bearing plate and the lower bearing plate, and pre-deflection of the cable saddle is achieved through rolling of the rolling friction pair. The cable saddle is simple in structure, reasonable in stress diffusion, complete in function and convenient to install and maintain, and therefore a tower-free ground anchor type suspension bridge which is small in excavation volume, short in construction period, considerable in economic benefit and environmentally friendly can be built in steep mountainous areas and canyons.
