The invention provides a composite material with a pomegranate structure, wherein the composite material comprises grain phases, diaphragm-shaped grain boundary phases are coated among the grain phases, and the mass ratio of the grain phases to the grain boundary phases is (2-12):1. The invention also provides a preparation method of the composite material with the pomegranate structure, wherein the preparation method comprises the following steps: mixing grain phase powder and grain boundary phase powder, and forming to form the composite material with the pomegranate structure; the grain phase powder comprises inorganic powder, engineering resin powder and metal powder; the grain boundary phase powder comprises engineering resin powder, metal powder or inorganic powder; the melting point of the grain phase powder is higher than that of the grain boundary phase powder; and the mass ratio of the grain phase powder to the grain boundary phase powder is (2-12):1. The preparation method of the composite material with the pomegranate structure is simple in step, and the prepared composite material with the pomegranate structure has good surface hardness, polishability and anti-falling performance.
