The invention discloses a composite structure friction material and a preparation method thereof. The composite structure friction material comprises at least one internal layer group and at least oneexternal layer group, the part close to a friction surface is the external layer group, the part far away from the friction surface is the internal layer group, the internal layer group is a carbon fiber straight continuous reinforced structure layer group, and the external layer group is a carbon fiber corrugated continuous reinforced friction layer group; and the inner layer group and the outerlayer group are connected through needled carbon fibers. The invention further discloses the preparation method of the composite structure friction material. According to the prepared friction material, the inner layer group is of a straight continuous carbon fiber reinforced structure, the outer layer group is of a gradient change continuous corrugated carbon fiber reinforced structure, materials with the main bearing effect and materials with the main friction effect are of different structures, and the excellent comprehensive performance and friction performance of the friction material can be guaranteed at the same time.
