The invention discloses a monitoring system and method for prestress of an expansive soil slope anchor rod. A stress sensor is directly clamped and fixed on the anchor rod, and then the prestress is applied, so that continuous monitoring can be carried out; data is remotely sent by means of a data transmission module, so that a worker does not need to stay for a long time on a monitoring site, and remote monitoring of multiple positions can be carried out; at least one monitoring position is arranged, so that more than one anchor rod can be monitored at the same time, more than one piece of instant data at the same place can be obtained, and the authenticity of the data can be higher; and the pressure sensor is directly installed, so that the structure of the anchor rod does not need to be changed and redesigned, the implementation cost of the device is reduced, and large-area laying is facilitated.
