The invention provides a cooling tower foundation structure and a construction method thereof. The cooling tower foundation structure comprises a plurality of bearing platforms, a plurality of foundation piles and connecting beam structures, wherein the plurality of bearing platforms are annularly and uniformly distributed, interval spaces are formed between every two adjacent bearing platforms, the bearing platforms are located underground, and the top faces of the bearing platforms are flush with the ground; the plurality of foundation piles are in one-to-one correspondence to the bearing platforms, and the foundation piles vertically sink into the ground and are perpendicularly connected with the bottom faces of the bearing platforms; and the connecting beam structures are connected between every two adjacent bearing platforms, so that the plurality of bearing platforms are sequentially connected to form an annular structure. According to the cooling tower foundation structure, the foundation piles are sunk, the bearing platforms are shallowly buried, compared with an annular raft foundation, the excavation depth is small, the excavation and backfill workload is small, and the construction period is short; the interval spaces are formed between every two adjacent bearing platforms, so that the bearing platforms and the connecting beam structures can be conveniently poured and constructed in sequence, and a post-pouring belt or a structural joint does not need to be additionally arranged; and the foundation piles transmit the load to a soil layer with good bearing performance in a deep underground position, the action area of the foundation piles is small, and underground pipelines are easily avoided.
