The invention discloses a box-type substation safety door control device and method. The device mainly comprises a box door which is provided with an electromagnetic safety lock; the electromagnetic safety lock comprises an armature which is arranged on the box body in a sliding mode, and the upper end of the armature is connected with the box body through a spring; the lower end of the armature is opposite to an iron core on the box body, a working coil is wound on the iron core, and the working coil is connected into a control circuit; one side of the armature is connected with the clamping column through a connecting rod, and the box door is correspondingly provided with a clamping ring; and when the working coil is powered on, the clamping column moves downwards and is clamped with the clamping ring to form a locking structure. According to the box-type substation safety door control device and method provided by the invention, external personnel can be prevented from opening the box door by mistake under the electrified condition, and the safety of the external personnel is ensured.
